Over the past 21 days my husband and I have been doing the workout The Shift Shop. It’s a new program that features a more strict meal plan and workouts that are both cardio and strength focused. Here is our Shift Shop Results and Review!

Positives to the program: We really liked the trainer! Chris Downing was wonderful to have in our living room every day. He’s really positive and encouraging, but also he’s huge and pushes you haha. I also really liked switching cardio days and strength days. Although my legs still felt crushed even after a cardio day because a lot of the moves involve your legs to make sure your heart rate gets up! I haven’t sweated as much as I did during these cardio workouts in a while. So I really liked that too! To me sweating a lot means I pushed myself and burned off that extra energy!
I also liked that the workouts ramped up in time. The first week was 25 min, then 35 min the second week and finally 45 min the third week. This helped me create that consistency again in my life which I was really wanting!!
What we didn’t love: You do need some space to do this workout. Traditionally Beachbody fitness programs don’t require a lot of space which is why they fit into our lives so well (we live in a smaller apartment). But with this workout, you really did need a big space in order to maximize your cardio workouts. Also, by day 20 we were both pretty beat down. It’s harder on your body than other workouts and we didn’t really have ‘fun’ at the end. Not that your workout is supposed to be super fun all the time, but we weren’t even looking forward to pushing play on the workout. We were really just waiting for it to be over haha. I don’t know if this is because of the workouts itself or because our bodies are tired.
I also was not a fan of the meal plan (Husband didn’t follow the meal plan at all). Ever since I found Paleo I haven’t had to pay attention to my serving sizes and instead just focus on eating whole foods, drinking my Shakeology and avoiding processed foods while listening to my body. With this meal plan I felt almost stressed out at times. I think the restriction of food also caused me to over consume. Not with unhealthy foods…except that one time with the chocolate chips in the pantry (oops) but like wayyy too much peanut butter and sweet potatoes. I enjoy the way I eat and have a great relationship with food so I don’t think for me personally it worked.
Who I recommend this to: I recommend that anyone who is looking to push themselves in a workout and feels stagnant should give this a try! There’s no doubt that you will push past that plateau you’re at with 21 days of Shift Shop workouts and nutrition. I do think former athletes would get a kick out of some of the drills if you have enough space or even take it outside! I also recommend the nutrition plan for those who want to LEARN about portion sizes and what they should be eating. I think the meal plan would be great for some people, but like I always say, there’s no one size fits all approach!
Who I don’t recommend this to: If you have knee/ankle or joint injuries/pain then I don’t suggest this workout for you. There is a lot of jumping and there are a lot better programs in our catalog for you to choose than this one.
Overall we are very happy with our results! It helped us get back on track after our 3 week Europe trip and back into the disciplined routine of working out every morning before work. Yeah, we’re weird and love getting it done first thing!! 🙂 I’m obviously happy to have lost the bloat that was lingering from summer as well! Do I wish that I would have seen more insane results? Yes. But we can’t always get what we want! All I can do is use this as a learning experience to help me on my lifelong health and fitness journey!!
Up next for us? 2 weeks of whatever we want! As requested by my husband haha. I don’t know what his plans are, but I’ll be doing PIYO and TurboFire until we pick our next program to tackle. My body could use the stretch!
